Television actress Niti Taylor has opened up about a disturbing experience from her early career in South cinema. Speaking on a podcast, the Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan actress revealed that a South Indian director demanded sexual favours from her in exchange for a film offer, an incident that made her decide never to do films again.
What Niti Taylor Said
Niti said she did only two South films during her career, and that the director of one of them reached out to her after the film was completed.
“When I used to do South films, I did only two. My director in that film did the first one. After it was completed, he called me for another film. He said on the call that for this one you will have to sleep with me. During this time, you don’t understand how to react,” she said.
How She Responded
Niti revealed that she did not respond to the director at all. She blocked his number immediately and called her mother.
A Decision That Changed Her Career
The incident had a lasting impact on Niti’s career choices. After that call, she stepped away from films and focused on television, where she went on to build a strong fan base. She became a household name with her role as Nandini Murthy in Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan and later appeared in shows like Ishqbaaz and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2.
Niti did not name the director during the conversation.
A Problem That Keeps Coming Up
Niti’s account adds to a growing list of actresses who have spoken openly about the casting couch across Indian film industries, including South cinema. Over the years, several actresses have shared similar experiences, and the issue continues to raise serious questions about safety and accountability for women in the industry.
Her decision to speak out has drawn support from fans, many of whom praised her for sharing her experience and for the way she handled the situation.
